“During the time of Sultan Ibrahim Sharki, a prince who ruled in the direction of Jaunpur, there flourished Kazi Shababu-d din Zawali Daulatabadi, who was both a shining star and a brilliant luminary of that realm. He was called the ” king of sages” by his contemporaries, and was the author of several works that have been received with general favour and celebrity, such as Havash Kafiah, the cleverest of his writings,-Irshad, Badiu-l Bayan, &c. He wrote an unfinished commentary on the Pazhdani, and an exposition in Persian entitled Bahr-i Nahwaj. After Kazi Shahabu-din’s demise, Maulna Shaikhu-l Hadad Jaunpuri made notes on the Kazi’s commentaries, and wrote expositions of the Hidayah, Madarik, and Pazhdani. Many more people of that country made notes on the Kazi’s commentary, and in comparison with them, those of Mianu-l Hadad are clever and pertinent.”
