The remaining twenty-four caves belong to the Mahayana school. Cave XI. is possibly one of the earliest of the sect; but the architecture resembles the ‘Hinayana style. The gap between the earlier and the later caves is a great one; and the transition commences with an abnormal group, consisting of Caves VI. and VII.
